Dr. Pauline Haugen, DC
Dr. Pauline Haugen opened Higher Health Chiropractic Bellevue, WA, in 2009, after seven years of practice in Colorado. Dr. Haugen was a competitive figure skater until the age of 18 and then discovered she had a talent for running.
She was first exposed to the benefits of chiropractic care as a young athlete. She ran for the Canadian National Team and then earned a full scholarship to The University of Michigan where she became an NCAA Division 1 athlete in track and cross-country. As a nationally competitive runner, Dr. Pauline Haugen suffered a number of sports injuries. After years of frustration it was chiropractic care that got her running again and stopped the repetitive injury cycle.
The concept of diagnosing the underlying cause of the injury versus simply treating the symptoms inspired Dr. Haugen to become a chiropractor. Dr. Pauline Haugen is also a BASI certified Pilates instructor. She specializes in injury and sports rehabilitation Pilates. She also specializes in Functional Nutrition, weight loss as well as properly fueling your body for an active lifestyle or athletic performance.
Dr. Deanna Mutzel, DC
CERTIFIED IN FUNCTIONAL NUTRITION
Dr. Deanna grew up in the small village of Elora, Ontario, where she began figure skating at the early age of 2. She competed in Figure Skating until the age of 18. At this time she discovered her new competitive passion, running. Dr. Deanna joined the Waterloo Huskie Striders and began training more seriously. Within a short period of time she excelled in the sport and was chosen to be a part of the Canadian Cross-Country and Track Team. She competed as an elite athlete at the World Junior and Senior Cross Country and Track Championships in Durham, England and Lisbon, Portugal- respectively in 1994 and 1995.
Dr. Deanna was recruited by the University of Michigan on a full athletic scholarship for Cross-Country and Track. She won the Big Ten Cross-Country Championship as a freshman and was the first freshman in league history to claim Big Ten Athlete & Freshman Of The Year. Dr. Deanna was honored a three time collegiate Division 1 All-American (NCAA) in track and x-country.
Dr. Deanna uses a whole foods approach when educating patients about their health and their nutrition. She specializes in weight loss, pregnancy, and athletic performance.
Kristin Denkinger, LMP
I have been working at Higher Health Chiropractic for 4 years (and counting!) The staff, the doctors, and the patients have become a big part of my life. I absolutely love what I do and I am certain this is very evident with my work. I am certified in deep tissue massage, prenatal massage sports massage, injury rehabilitation and hot stone massage. I believe it is important to customize massage to each individual’s needs. I am a fitness fanatic, I love yoga, and I love the Pacific Northwest lifestyle. I am a big advocate of educating my patients on the benefits of finding the underlying cause of their pain through chiropractic care while they are seeing me for massage therapy. Dr. Pauline Haugen, DC, and I work hand in hand when diagnosing the underlying structural cause of your pain through a proper physical, neurologic and orthopedic exam. I truly feel this is how we maintain our reputation of delivering superb service in the medical community and amongst our patients!
Kristin Maria Tessier, LMP
I am passionate about empowering and inspiring people to take control of their health. As there is no healing modality that works for everyone I am continually discovering, researching and learning new methods to facilitate healing. I believe wellness is a synergy of health of your mind, body and soul. I love the outdoors, staying active and being in nature. I run, hike, ski and do yoga. I am a proud mamma of a seven year old boy so when I’m not working, my time is spent with him and my friends who have become a part of my family. I am a huge advocate of the benefits of chiropractic care and how it compliments my massage therapy. Dr. Haugen, DC, is trained to find the underlying cause of any ailment of pain. She educates me on each patient case so that I can perform very specific massage techniques to assist with chiropractic adjustments and to encourage a preventative, truly healthy lifestyle!
Linda Strandjord, LMP
Linda earned her massage therapy degree at the Bellevue Massage School alongside her daughter, Kristin Denkinger. She has always had a passion for working with people and also alternative medicine. She soon realized she had the hands and a natural talent when it came to massage therapy and she decided to join the Higher Health Team because we had a need for strong, energetic therapists who had experience with medical massage, sports massage, prenatal massage and therapists who could also pull off a “spa flare”! We guarantee the massages you will receive at Higher Health will be some of the best you have ever had
